FIRST AID

The “Provide First Aid” course will give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to help an ill or injured person until emergency help arrives. Students learn the emergency action plan as well as resuscitation, defibrillation, anaphylaxis and the management of various injuries and illnesses.

The course consists of a self paced online theory component to be completed prior to attending a 6 to 8 hour practical session. Upon successful completion of the course, participants are issued the VET certified, Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment, HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

Course content includes:

Legal issues – Infection control – Emergency action plan – CPR – Defibrillation – Allergic reactions – Shock – Bleeding – Burns – Fractures, sprains, strains, dislocations – Head, neck and spinal injuries – Chest and abdominal injuries – Facial and eye injuries – Poisons – Bites and stings

Assessment:
Theory assessment: Online Exam to be completed before practical
A minimum pass mark of 80 percent applies.
Practical assessment 1: Emergency Action Plan scenario
Practical assessment 2: Injury/illness scenario

The course can be combined with the Basic Oxygen Administration certification, 22100VIC, a prerequisite for Stress and Rescue Diver qualification.

This certificate is valid for three years.

The Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) HLTAID002 and Basic Oxygen Administration 22100VIC components should be renewed annually
